A idéia é ter um sistema operaional Linux com a aplicação Smart Client da IBM chamada Open Collaboration Client Solution software. Para quem se pergunta qual o real motivo desta união. A resposta é simples: Windows 7.
O custo da migração para Windows 7 para muitos usuários de PC seria em torno de U$ 2,000.00 (entre software e hardware). O Sistema Operacional Linux e os softwares IBM são mais baratos para implantação.
Para Bob Picciano, gerente geral da IBM Lotus, “as empresas precisarão avaliar os custos com migração para a próxima versão do Sistema Operacional da Microsoft, assim como gastos contra vírus e outros ataques. Elas pediram alterantivas e apresentamos o IBM Client for Smart Work“.
Sendo a IBM a maior empresa de hardware dos EUA, é certo que muitas empresas optarão por não atualizarem hardware para migração ao Windows 7, continuarão a utilizar o Windows XP ou optarão por um Sistema Operacional moderno mas que funcione em seu hardware antigo.
